Day 7 - Peaceful, Relaxing, and Calming

Today was another beautiful day for riding! Today I rode several mountain roads that had streams running beside them and trees that canopied the road. What a peaceful, relaxing, and calming way to enjoy the day. Riding these roads can make you forget about the rest of world (like your job). Sorry folks, I have one more week to enjoy riding before the reality of work has to set back in! When I do return, I will always have the memories of this trip to think about during the tougher times!

Riding these roads also make realize again how blessed I have been. Thanks again to my wife Cathy for supporting me to take this kind of trip. It is not only time I am gone but also all the preparation time and put away/clean-up time upon my return. I'm fortunate to have a spouse that allows me to take such trips! Thanks again.

One of the pictures I posted is on a road that had about 8 - 10 hairpin curves one right after the other working their way down the hill. It was neat because it was cleared out a lot between the roads so I stopped in the middle and could take pictures both ways.

What do you think would be the most common road sign in North Carolina? Much to my surprise it says "Bridge Ices Before Road". They have it before almost every bridge just in case you forgot from 5 minutes ago when you crossed the last bridge! There are plenty of bridges required to cross the many mountain streams. I guess they don't want anyone to forget that "Bridge Ices Before Road"!

Tonight I'm staying at a campground in Pineola N.C. It says it is a family camp but it looks more like a retirement community! Most of the trailers that are here look like they are parked either permanently or at least for the summer. Everyone seems to know their neighbors. I don't think I need to worry about any loud parties tonight!

Tomorrow it is on to Virginia, more Blue Ridge Parkway, and more relaxed riding.

I'm still having issues getting the "Trip Log" to show up correctly that shows where I went for the day. Again today it only showed my afternoon riding, nothing from the morning, so I didn't post the picture today. Still not sure what is happening; I guess my procedure change didn't solve the problem. Not sure what to do next.

I have now logged over 3,000 miles in the first 7 days. 7 more days to go before I return home to reality.
